2021 is shaping up to be one hell of a year!

Enough has been said on 2020. I won’t give yet another spiel, but instead I turn my attention forward.

OpportunitiesWhat I’m Doing
Massive MagazineI’m writing a thing or two here and there for my University’s magazine.
Massey GuideI’m helping new faces get set up and settled in as they start their University journey.
MUSA VolunteerStudent events require student help! I’m acting as an extra set of hands to keep things running smoothly on event days.

For those on my Newsletter mailing list, you already know I’m entering my final year of study. If all goes well, I’ll be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Creative Writing, minoring in Psychology, with a Certificate of Arts to match as I continue my study of the Japanese language.

That makes 2021 my final year of student freedom and opportunity, and I’m sad to say, I haven’t taken advantage of everything that comes along with it. That’s why this year, I’m focused on experiences, learning, and growth, before entering the next phase of my life.

I’m excited to announce I’m now a student volunteer at my University, acting as an extra pair of hands to keep things running smoothly on campus, and a Guide for the fresh new faces taking their first steps on their paths of higher education. What’s more, I’m signed up to teach English to refugees and immigrants! It’s such an exciting opportunity to learn and grow and help others along the way.

In October, I’ll be filling out applications to enter the next phase of my life: teaching English in Japan. Once I’m graduated from University, I’m finally eligible for the Jet Program and Interac, the two pathways I’m looking at carry me forward.

Finally, I’ve also got my name down to become a writer for my university’s student magazine, Massive. Once upon a time, I created content for Tearaway Magazine, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to get my name in print once again!

My newsletter readers will know, that this ultimately means my author platform isn’t a priority for 2021. I know I’ve been sorely lacking in content as it is, but this year is too vital to put keep on the pressure to produce content – which is honestly what’s been stifling me to begin with!

I’ll be posting what I can, when I can – but oh do I have plans! There’s a lot on my mind I’m hoping to bring to life, and I hope you’ll stick around to see it too.

Keep your eyes open for future discussions on Creative Writing as a University subject and hopefully a glimpse here and there of the deadline-demanded stories they yield!
