Sandra was a decidedly average High-School student, with a perfectly reasonable fear of the recently-outed vampires living among them. And then her mom went missing. Desperate to find her mother before her sister is taken away from her, Sandra ventures into the world of the undead and gets a whole lot more than she bargained … Continue reading Don’t Go Chasing Vampires
As promised in a previous post, I'm excited to share the results of my recent burst of inspiration. This is a rewrite of the first chapter in a project I began years and years and years ago, which has sat, undisturbed, in my files ever since.
I've no idea what drew me back to this story specifically, but I'm more than happy to indulge in this long-forgotten project.
I've found it quite interesting, given this is a YA project. I've been drawn to my Adult Fiction works for a long time now, so rediscovering a YA voice has been a fun experience.
Anyway, without any further ado, I hope you enjoy reading this little excerpt as much as I liked writing it. And as always, feedback is welcome.
I know. I know. I already have plenty of projects on the books. Why in gods name would I start another? You ask good questions. The short answer is, it's for my audience. This year I intend to write a series that I do NOT intend to eventually publish and sell, so that I can … Continue reading New Projects: Cardinal Sins
I wanted to share a short excerpt, which is actually from the sequel to Tiger's Eye, that nicely showcases Olivia's personality.
I pulled another vanishing act this past month or so. Due to personal life struggles, I decided to take a break from... well, everything. I packed a bag and went away for two weeks, ignoring all social media so I could focus on myself for a while. It was much needed and properly enjoyed, but … Continue reading Disappearing Act
You may or (more likely) may not have noticed I haven't written any of my own posts in the past two weeks. It's supposed to be week three of Camp NaNoWriMo, but I'd say I'm official down and out for the count. This past week - yes, an entire week - I've been in bed, … Continue reading WIP Thursday?
NOTE: sorry this post is late! Apparently I set the scheduled posting settings wrong. We are almost 1 week into Camp NaNo (which, for those who don't know, is a more flexible version of NaNoWriMo. Click the links for more information) which means, given my goal of 30,000 words, I should've written 5,000 by now. … Continue reading WIP Wednesday: Camp NaNoWriMo
I honestly can't be upset about this week... but I know I did a bad thing. Lets start at the beginning though. I got hit with some intense nostalgia cravings this week; see, when I started writing I joined Booksie, a writer community / website that predates Wattpad (I think?). I loved it, and I … Continue reading WIP Wednesday: Two steps forward, One step back
Not to say that my writing is bad - no, I'm quite impressed sometimes when I reread something I've written, like damn, coulda read that in a real book. While there's always room for improvement, I'm not talking about that at all. I'm talking about how I haven't touched any of my stories at all this week. … Continue reading WIP Wednesday: I’m a bad writer
I haven't touched my writing this week. Haven't had time. No sir. There's a 50%-of-my-grade exam on Friday I've been studying for, so understandably I've been a little creatively-crippled. That's a lie actually. I've been dying to write all week - because apparently, that's just how I work. Only when I absolutely cannot let myself … Continue reading WIP Wednesday: Exam Week
