#WritersInQuarantine

A blog update is well overdue! We are of course, mid global pandemic. That's some scary stuff. I'm incredibly lucky to be in New Zealand, where Covid-19 has not yet overwhelmed our population, but we are in quarantine. With half of the country shut down and only essential services in operation, everyone is tucked away … Continue reading #WritersInQuarantine

My Return to Writing: An Excerpt

As promised in a previous post, I'm excited to share the results of my recent burst of inspiration. This is a rewrite of the first chapter in a project I began years and years and years ago, which has sat, undisturbed, in my files ever since.

I've no idea what drew me back to this story specifically, but I'm more than happy to indulge in this long-forgotten project.

I've found it quite interesting, given this is a YA project. I've been drawn to my Adult Fiction works for a long time now, so rediscovering a YA voice has been a fun experience.

Anyway, without any further ado, I hope you enjoy reading this little excerpt as much as I liked writing it. And as always, feedback is welcome.

I’m back!

Maybe that's a little premature. I've been on hiatus for like... A year? I've been creatively dead, to the point where I've questioned my entire future in writing, and it's been utterly heartbreaking. However, a few days off a certain medication, and I literally tossed and turned all night long before finally giving up at … Continue reading I’m back!

The Quagga: Literary Magazine

This semester at uni, I'm enrolled in The Publishing Project, a paper designed to guide us into the world of publications, how to navigate it and succeed. For my production, I am partaking in a group production and together we have decided to found a literary magazine, building from the ground up our very own publication. I … Continue reading The Quagga: Literary Magazine

A Short Story: The Cupid’s Dilemma

Thought I would share with you a piece I wrote for a fiction writing class at Uni last year, about a teenage cupid-in-training. My teacher wasn't happy with it, but hopefully y'all will be at least mildly entertained.   The Cupid’s Dilemma   Being a teenager is complicated enough. Leslie thought it was wholly unfair … Continue reading A Short Story: The Cupid’s Dilemma

New Projects: Cardinal Sins

I know. I know. I already have plenty of projects on the books. Why in gods name would I start another? You ask good questions. The short answer is, it's for my audience. This year I intend to write a series that I do NOT intend to eventually publish and sell, so that I can … Continue reading New Projects: Cardinal Sins

Wrapping Up and Starting Fresh

Hello, and welcome to the new year! Right around this time last year, I was telling myself, "this is going to be my year." I had plans, and all the good intentions in the world. Alas, 2017 was not all I intended it to be. I never finished Tiger's Eye, nor did I complete Nanowrimo, … Continue reading Wrapping Up and Starting Fresh
